Liverpool beat Landon Donovan and Everton today, 1-0. It was a pretty dirty match, with Everton thug and Belgian Afro Ambassador Marouane Fellaini getting most of the cheap shots in against Liverpool. He himself escaped a red card on a stretcher, keeping the game total down to only two.
Dirk Kuyt survived an early kick in the face to net the game’s only score; a header redirection from a corner, just past Team USA and Everton goalie Tim Howard. I would have liked to see more attacking from Kuyt (and less from Ngog), but getting the win is the important thing.
This pushes Liverpool up past Tottenham and into 4th place in the EPL. Only the top four EPL teams each year get to participate in the following year’s Champion’s League, and though we’ve still got two full months of season left, it’s never too soon to climb the rankings. Actually, that’s probably not true, but it would be great if they got a run going this month just as they got back stars Torres and Benayoun from injury.
