Signatune

Thomas Bangalter (of Daft Punk fame) has a great remix of Signatune, a track by another French artist named DJ Mehdi. It’s an awesome song. I could listen to it on repeat and it would just get me more and more amped up. You know how Rocky has Gonna Fly Now? Well, I have Signatune. And until yesterday, I didn’t know there was a Signatune video. It tells a story that manages to be both ridiculous and (almost) inspiring at the same time. Bask in its repetitive electronic glory:

I found this while looking for the new Born Free video from M.I.A., directed by the same guy who did the Signatune video.

Born Free is worth checking out as well, but be warned that it is graphic, violent, and very political. The Signatune video is fun and cheeky, and by comparison the Born Free video is powerful and dark. If you still want to see what all the fuss is about, click here to watch it on Vimeo. I won’t give anything away other than to say gingerism has never been so scary.

Wow, you know, I had heard a lot about the MIA video, but this is the first time I have seen it. However, in defense of the fictitious despotic America portrayed there, I do find gingers to be freakish genetic anamolies. And really, how much of a thrill must it be to thrash someone with a nightstick?

Why do you think I shaved off my goatee? Besides it looking ridiculous, it was red. Apparently I’m part ginger, and I shamefully hide my gael heritage to pass as a non-ginger. It’s what I must do in today’s nightstick filled world.

Hey, at least you can grow a goatee, be it red or otherwise. But yes, it’s probably in your best interest to keep those recessive genes under wraps.

I too suffer from your stated “red beard syndrome”. Though yours is a bit more curious because the rest of your hair is dark… much darker than mine.

I’ve been sporting mutton chops for the past 8 months or so – though I’ll probably drop them this week. Summer is coming (heat + bizarre tan lines if you don’t shave early enough) and I have to go to a client event on Thursday. Might be best to tuck away the Wolverine look for a while.

YIkes Brendan, way to bring down a girl’s night! I hadn’t see this and I am evidently WAY behind on your blog. Disturbing.
